Dr. Jennifer Bashant, owner of Building Better Futures, is a trainer and coach for both educators and parents. She holds a PhD in Social Welfare, a Master of Social Work and an MA in Criminal Justice, all from the University at Albany.She has had a variety of experiences in schools as both a clinician and as a researcher. Dr. Bashant has been trained as a Mindfulness Coach for Educators through the Mindful Schools Certification Program. She has also been trained in Collaborative Problem Solving at Massachusetts General Hospital, and works with teachers, administrators and parents regarding how to reduce challenging behavior in school and at home for almost ten years.
Dr. Bashant has been a presenter at many conferences, including at the College of St. Rose, Sage College’s Dawn Hochsprung Center for the Prevention of School Violence, Russell Sage, the NYS Families Together Annual Conference, the NYS Education Department and the NYS Council for Children and Families. . Her areas of expertise are in creating trauma-sensitive schools, reducing challenging behavior, mindfulness and social and emotional learning.
